ECO FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATIONS FOR A GREEN VACATION

Coral Hill Bungalows has been designed and built to leave the smallest footprint possible. Our eco-friendly lodgings have been designed to have as small an impact on the land and environment as is necessary to have a luxury facility. The Bungalows are built on stilts to minimize the impact on the plants, animals, land and insects. Because of the high humidity and high moisture content in the Southern Caribbean area, the structures designs allow for proper air flow to hinder and delay any type of fungus from growing and to create a clean and fresh environment.

None of the trees on the property were cut to build the Bungalows. The Bungalows are designed so as to fit into the environment. They are made out of local woods, harvested according to the dictates of MINAE. They were built by a local contractor, using the many and varied methods in this area to conform to the terrain.

The new plantings are designed not only for their color and appeal, but also to provide food and shelter to the many and varied birds, insects, reptiles and animals that abound the area. We have planted flowers for the Hummingbirds and Butterflies. We have many flowering bushes for the hundreds of varieties of small birds. The trees all provide seeds and shelter for the larger birds and shelter for sloths and Monkeys. The Coral Reef that that everything is built on provides shelter for many of the ground birds, reptiles and animals. None of the Coral has been removed for the construction. Everything has been built around the existing terrain.

Our property is abutted in the rear by hectares of jungle. We are located in an area of natural beauty with some very large and old trees. Although we do not yet have solar power all of our systems are designed to minimize the use of electricity and the impact on the land.

We use only organic natural products for maintenance, cleaning and fertilizer. These products are made by the Earth University here in Costa Rica specifically from local organic materials without chemicals or additives. We use EM (Efficient Micro-organisms) for cleaning and plant health and ECO –HUM HX for fertilizer.
