To get to Cahuita from the San Jose airport or from a San Jose Hotel, you have a few options depending on your arrival time. We are located 130 miles from San Jose. Please keep note that when planning you transportation to Cahuita, that we do not accept check ins after 9:00 pm.
You can rent a car and drive the three and half hours. The roads are in good condition and fairly well signed. We can e-mail you directions or you can get a GPS from the rental agency. The GPS works very well. You can book a car rental on our web site directly with Adobe under the "Transportation Tab"
You can take a shuttle van service such as www.interbusonline.com They offer daily morning service from San Jose to Cahuita once a day for $47 per person each way. The ride is about 4 hours. Interbus can be booked directly with Interbus through our web site under the "Transportation" tab There are others also.
Some such as www.costaricashuttle.com also offer private van service anytime day or night for about $200 to $240 one way. We also can arrange for a private taxi to pick you up at the airport and take you to us for $170 in a new Toyota Corolla.
You can take a bus. There is a direct non-stop bus from the Terminal Atlantico Norte /San Carlos in San Jose to Cahuita. The ride is about 4 hours, costs about $9 per person each way. They depart the San Jose terminal at 6am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. They are not air conditioned, but are fairly new. You would take a taxi from the airport to the bus terminal for about $30, and another taxi from the Cahuita bus station to us for about $4. We are 1 kilometer north of the bus station at Playa Negra.
