To get to Cahuita from the San Jose airport or from a San Jose Hotel, you have a few options depending on your arrival time. We are located 130 miles from San Jose. Travel time is about 4 hours. Please keep note when planning you transportation to Cahuita, that we do not accept check ins after 9:00 pm.
RENT A CAR
You can rent a car and drive the three and half hours. The roads are in good condition and fairly well signed. We can e-mail you directions or you can get a GPS from the rental agency. The GPS works very well. You can book a car rental on our web site directly with Adobe Car Rental at Adobecar.com
You can take a shuttle van service. They offer daily morning service from San Jose to Cahuita once a day for $49 per person each way. The ride is about 4 hours. Interbus can be booked directly with through our web site at InterbusOnline.com. There are others also other shuttle services that offer private van service anytime day or night for about $200 to $240 one way.
We also can arrange for a private taxi to pick you up at the airport and take you to us for $170 one way.
You can take a bus. There is a direct non-stop bus from the Terminal Atlantico Norte /San Carlos in San Jose to Cahuita. The ride is about 4 hours, costs about $9 per person each way. They depart the San Jose terminal at 6am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. They are not air conditioned, but are fairly new. You would take a taxi from the airport to the bus terminal for about $30, and another taxi from the Cahuita bus station to us for about $4. We are 1 kilometer north of the bus station at Playa Negra.
